Visitors

Several of you have asked about visiting.  I don't want you to feel that you have to visit.  I am counting on coming out of this alive so it is not as if this is your last chance to ever see me again.  For most of you it is quite a long drive just to see some scruffy unshaven old guy scratch his itchy spots.  If you really want to come and can then I'll be glad to see you.

They don't seem to have official visiting hours other than from 10 pm to 6 am is more of a quiet time.  There are the usual signs limiting visiting to two visitors per patient but that is routinely ignored.  If my roommate needs quiet, we can go down to one of the lounges where we can visit without disturbing him (or her my first roomie was a lady).  I've had four different roommates in the first 5 nights.

I'm in Kingston General Hospital, Kidd wing, 6th floor, room 33, bed 1, or K633-1 for short.

You may also phone me at 613-549-6666 ext 6940.  Incoming calls are blocked from 10 pm to 6 am.

I have a new room number: K641-2 and a new extension 6956

Here is my list of visitors for my first week:

Tuesday May 1
Jim MacDonald drove Anne and me here and then took Anne back home after I was settled in.  That was a big help because I was too sick to drive and Anne was too upset.

Wednesday May 2
Brian Finley from Westben
Our neighbour Marion Hay brought Anne

Thursday May 3
Jonathan and Jacinta brought Anne
Cheryl Stevenson, a neighbour when we lived on Ranney St in Campbellford, now living in Kingston

Friday May 4
Three guys that I knew from teaching came.  They did not teach with me in Campbellford but were working with computers at other schools or providing support from the board office.  They were a huge help when I was teaching: Mike Roche, Sebastian Reisch and John Sylvestervitch
My sister Clara and her husband Dan brought Anne

Saturday May 5
Chris Smith and Brenda Woodley came.  They both used to teach in Campbellford and are very good friends.
My brother Ken and his wife Bridget
Stephen and Anne

I think that's all.  I have not been all that lonely because I have email too.  Except for one afternoon when it did not work at all, the internet here is faster than at home.

Note that I may get sent home for a few days and then readmitted.  See more details in the blog for Sunday May 6.
