Introduction

Hi

Insert

The feedback I get from some of you is that you may not be seeing all of the blog.  I have been giving people two different bookmarks, one that I think always comes here first and one that goes to the most recent post first.  If you always come here first, you may wish to use pogoron.blogspot.ca instead, which I hope takes you directly to the newest post.  From there you can either scroll down or use the menu on the right side to go to other posts.

I'm starting this on Saturday May 5.  Anne and I have been trying to keep people up to date by email but I'm having trouble remembering who I have told what to.  This way I can put all the gory details in one place where everyone can find them and save the emailing for more personal stuff.  People who want detail can read every word while others can skim and read only the parts they want.

Much of what I post may be inaccurate as I often misunderstand what the nurse or doctor said and forget what happened on what day but I won't try to mislead people on purpose.

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent us kind and encouraging words and also those who have driven Anne to Kingston to see me.  She is quite capable of driving herself but she really does not like racing the trucks on 401 or trying to navigate a strange city to find the hospital.

I'm going to test this to see how it works and then start adding some info about yesterday.  Eventually I'll get around to putting data from the beginning while still keeping up with the day-to-day happenings from now on.

Cheers for now.

Ron

  1. Ron, I'm very sorry to hear about all this. My mother's been sending me the emails and linked me here. I'm very glad to hear that the doctors seem to think they can get the whole mass with surgery. I appreciate your willingness to keep us posted on what's going on even though you must not be feeling too good.

Since you have good internet access at the hospital, I thought I might link you to a few websites that make me and/or my boyfriend smile and might be good for passing the time for you and Anne when you don't feel well:

The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee: This is a blog by a woman named Laurie Cinnoto in Washington State who fosters kittens. That is, she takes in litters of kittens that have been brought to the Humane Society without their mothers, and cares for the kittens until they are old enough and healthy enough to be adopted by families. She has cared for over a hundred kittens this way by now. The photos she takes of these kittens are utterly adorable, as are her descriptions of them. The sweetness will give you cavities.

Cute Overload: Photos and videos of cute and funny animals, along with descriptions that occasionally lapse into the quasi-English cooing noises that people sometimes produce when faced with extreme cuteness. Usually a few new photos are posted per day.

Engrish.com: What happens when non-English speakers try to put up signs in English without actually running them by a native English speakers. Very funny.

Chronicles of George: This was a recommendation from my boyfriend, Karl. It is a collection of technical support help desk tickets from a very, very inept technical support person. This is comedy gold. I laughed until I cried.

Damn You, Auto Correct!: Exactly what it sounds like: unfortunate conversations caused by the foibles and frailties of the iPhone's and other smartphones' autocorrect features. Off-colour in places, but very funny.

Not Always Right: Proof that in retail and other industries, the customer is not always right. Lots of funny stories, and a few sweet ones.

S*** My Student Write: Ridiculous, funny things that students have written on school assignments. Title notwithstanding, the site is mostly free of profanity. You might be able to empathize with some of the teachers.

I hope these help cheer you up a bit.

My fingers and toes are crossed, whatever positive energy I have is being sent to you in Kingston and Anne on her way to Lindsay.
Trust you to come up with a creative way to keep us all in the loop.

  5. Hi Ron
Sorry to hear you are ill. If Anne needs a ride to Kingston, I would like to help out with that if you need me. I've been in your position and I was helped out by a lot of people and I would like to return the favour if she needs me or if there is anything else I could do.

  6. Hi Ron,
Truly you are an inspiration. I cannot get over how you have kept your spirits high, in spite of the knothole you are being pulled through. I am in awe.

    Love you so much!

I was just thinking that our 2nd cousin Heather(Clark) Faris and her husband Matthew are both doctors in the Kingston hospital.
